This spring, the American Helicopter Society International (AHS) awarded two University of Maryland (UMD) graduate students 2017 Vertical Flight Foundation Scholarships.

  • Mr. Thomas A. Herrmann, Marat N. Tishchenko Scholarship
  • Mr. Tyler Sinotte, Alfred Gessow Scholarship

The VFF is the philanthropic arm of AHS, and VFF scholarships recognize some of the world’s most talented engineering students interested in vertical flight. Many recipients have gone on to become leaders in the vertical flight technical community. Only 24 awards are given internationally each year.

This year’s recipients will be recognized during at the AHS Grand Awards Banquet on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 during the AHS International 73rd Annual Forum & Technology in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
